Ancient Egyptians used various symbols and hieroglyphics to communicate. They use symbols to tell about something so it would be easily recognized right away. Their first type of writing was made of rows of pictures called hieroglyphics which stood for a sound or a word.If you go to the below listed website you can see samples of both.

Yes the Egyptians used hieroglyphs as their written language. The language was all pictures and symbols. We may never have been able to decipher the ancient Egyptian language if it wasn't for the finding of the Rosetta Stone. This stone has both Egyptian Hieroglyphs as well as the same text in Greek. It took many years of studying it before we were able to translate the hieroglyphs. Without this great find we may still be looking at the symbols trying to decode them today.
ReplyDeleteUsing pictures and symbols as the Egyptians have is very creative. Using these symbols probably gave a faster explanitation of what was communicated then typing out each letter.
